An Eventful Day
Today was quite eventful, as you shall learn from the post below. Unless, of course, you don’t read it. In that case, you’ll just have to take my word for it.
First of all, as some of you may know, we are sick. Sick and tired. Ben has been sick since December 31st; the rest of us have been picking it up along the way. So far, the only ones to not be sick at all are Dad (since he’s gone truck driving), Mom, Eric, Beth, and Katie. The other eight of us have been sick, and to spare embarrassment, I shall not detail the symptoms only to say that they include slightly queasy stomachs and tiredness. Yesterday Ben had to come home from work because he was so sick (dizzy and stuff). He ended up sleeping in for a long time, past noon I think. Today has been my worst day so far…very tired, queasy stomach, just an overall feeling of lethargy.
That was the first thing.
The second thing is the toilet. I don’t know if y’all got the post on the toilet that I made (real lovely, eh?)…if you didn’t, you can view it here, but anyway, a plumber came today and fixed the girls’ bathroom toilet, finally for good! He had quite an audience…was talking to the kids about what languages they knew and stuff. What a nice guy!
Third of all, Dad was in an accident. He drives tanker trucks, you know, but they were empty. Good thing, too. The two-lane road was icy (drop off on one side, mountain on the other), and a big boat of a car (with two guys and a dog) was spinning out of control in front of him. That car hit behind a trailer axle and bounced off. He went into the oncoming traffic lane (he said everything he did was on purpose). Another big truck was coming towards him, so he swerved to avoid the truck, and slid into a ditch that had 3 or 4 feet of snow. The truck coming towards him hit his trailer; I’m guessing when he was sliding into the ditch (on the mountain side). Dad got out and ran up to the car, which had stopped. The driver had gotten out and was on his hands and knees; the passenger was sitting calmly in the car. “Are you ok?” Dad asked the driver. He said his leg and back hurt, and Dad said “we’ll get someone out here for you.” Dad went to the other truck, the one that had hit him. That guy was calling for help. A few minutes later the driver of the car, the one who said his back and neck hurt, got up and started walking his dog. Mom said sometimes people act weird after an accident.
When the ambulance got there, they put that guy on a backboard with a brace on his neck, to immobilize him.
Praise the Lord nobody was killed and Dad was fine!!!
In case you haven't noticed, my name is Anne, but in RL it's pronounced Annie. At this moment in time I happen to be 21 years old. Herein you will find: The rants, rambles, and otherwise uninteresting happenings in the life of...well, ME, you might say.
